Chapter 22

Rick

Jerry sat in Tracy's desk chair. Rick stopped inside the back door, hardening at the sight of her in the boss's lap. Spending last night with her changed nothing today at work. Any time Aaron or Jerry came close to her, she was throwing herself in their arms or holding their hands.

"The last tow is parked in Section B." He tossed Jerry the keys and put the paperwork on the Xerox machine. "Need anything else?"

"Nah, we're good here. Go on home and enjoy the break in the hot weather," said Jerry.

"Will do." He raised his hand, turning for the door, and a solid form hit his backside, wrapping arms around his waist.

"Don't forget about me." Tracy laughed, sliding under his arm and around to the front of him. "Wait a second."

She let go of him and went over to the corner of the room. There, she picked up a brown shopping bag and hurried over to him. "I have everything I need to make waffles."

"Fix them for Jerry." He walked outside, leaving her in the office.

The door opened behind him. He strode around the corner of the building, stopping at his motorcycle. He'd kept his distance from all Tarkio members since the night he found out what they wanted from him. It was hard enough to come into work, knowing he'd fucked Tracy, and have the fact that Tarkio was still deep in his shit because she couldn't keep her hands to herself.

"Rick." Tracy hurried to his side. "I thought we planned on having dinner with each other tonight. I walked over to the store on the corner during my lunch hour and bought everything we'd need."

He'd wanted waffles since the day his grandma had died. Every fucking day in prison, he tried to pretend the meal loaf was covered in syrup. He could almost imagine the aroma of his grandparents' kitchen when he closed his eyes.

"I'm not letting you play me, angel." He got on the motorcycle. "If it doesn’t matter to you who makes you feel good, count me out."

"Feel good?" She grabbed hold of his shirt. "You do. I want to be with you. I want you to come over."

"Then, lay off the others."

"I never invited the others." She leaned forward and kissed him. "Only you."

He growled. "Put your shit in the bag, then get on."

She hustled, jumping on the back of his bike with an exuberance he wished he felt at the end of a workday. He rode forward, knowing it was a bad decision to take her home. She might claim not to have any obligations toward Tarkio members, but the way she acted around them, he'd bet his Harley they believed she belonged to them.

And that was too close to being involved with Tarkio for his comfort. Working with two members during the day was a job. After hours, the more he hung out with Tracy, the deeper he got into the club.

He glanced in his side mirror, always looking for a member of Cusclan Motorcycle Club trailing his ass.
